Amy B. Hartmann is an estate planning and estate administration attorney who is partner and co-founder of HARTMANN & NIHEM, PLLC. Prior to establishing her own law firm, Amy spent 10 years practicing in the areas of estate planning and trust administration at Gandelot Hartmann. Amy brought with her many years of litigation experience in Michigan and Federal courts. Amy’s practice continues to focus on estate planning, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trust planning, retirement trusts, strategies for taxable estates, charitable planning, special needs trusts, long-term care planning and asset protection techniques. She also handles probate and trust administrations, including trust reformations, and some contested trust and probate matters. She completed the State Bar of Michigan Certificate Program in Probate and Estate Planning. She also was named a 2013 and 2016 Detroit Five Star Wealth Managers for Estate Planning (D Business Magazine July/August 2013and July/August 2016). Amy’s estate planning practice involves individualized planning that provides flexibility and creative solutions to her clients and meets their evolving planning needs.

Amy is a member of Wealth Counsel, a national collaborative of estate planning attorneys and financial professionals. She also serves on the Legal/Financial Network of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. She is a member and Vice-Chairman of the City of Grosse Pointe Downtown Development Authority.

Amy spent her early career in public service. She co-founded the Michigan Children’s Law Center (MCLC), a non-profit organization that represents children in child protection and delinquency matters in Wayne County Juvenile Court. She also served as a legal liaison in Oakland County on behalf of the State Court Administrative Office and led a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to improving child abuse and neglect investigations. Amy spent 9 years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan where she received the Director’s Award for Superior Performance. In her spare time, Amy helps out at her husband’s Grosse Pointe restaurant, City Kitchen, and always looks forward to spending time with their college age son.

Nancy A. Nihem is a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and is a founding partner of Hartmann & Nihem, PLLC. Prior to establishing Hartmann & Nihem, Nancy spent 5 years practicing in the areas of estate planning and administration at Gandelot Hartmann where she oversaw and coordinated probate and trust administrations. She also brings with her many years of experience in the practice areas of bankruptcy, real estate and commercial litigation. Her practice continues to focus on estate planning and probate and trust administration, including probate proceedings for estates, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships. Nancy provides a unique combination of legal experience and counseling which enables her to assist clients with care and compassion during a time of great need.

Nancy is a member of Wealth Counsel, a national collaborative of estate planning attorneys and financial professionals. She is also a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan and is an active volunteer in the Grosse Pointe Community.
