It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Amy B. Hartmann, a respected and compassionate estate planning attorney, who left us peacefully on March 27, 2025. Amy was a beloved partner who dedicated her career to helping families navigate the complexities of estate planning, leaving behind a lasting legacy of trust, guidance, and advocacy.
All of us at Hartmann & Nihem, PLLC, send our condolences to her family, particularly her husband, Chick Taylor, and her son, Charlie.
Amy co-founded Hartmann & Nihem, PLLC, in 2018 and built a reputation as an experienced and respected lawyer who served her clients in the Grosse Pointe and Metro Detroit area with skill, commitment, compassion and empathy. Throughout her distinguished career, Amy helped navigate clients through the complex process of planning for their future to ensure their loved ones were cared for. Amy approached each client with kindness and patience, to ensure their legacy was protected and their final wishes honored with respect and dignity.
The lawyers and staff at Hartmann & Nihem could not have asked for a better partner, mentor and colleague. Her commitment to the law, love for this area and its people, and her respect and admiration for her clients touched many over the 39 years she practiced law. Amy and her contagious smile will be deeply missed.

Nancy Nihem

Nancy A. Nihem is a native of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and was a founding partner of Hartmann & Nihem, PLLC. Since joining Plunkett Cooney in January 2026, Nancy has served as the office managing attorney of the firm’s Grosse Pointe office.
Nancy has decades of experience in the areas of estate planning and probate and trust administration. Her practice also includes probate proceedings for estates, trusts, guardianships and conservatorships. Nancy provides a unique combination of legal experience and counseling which enables her to assist clients with care and compassion during a time of great need.
Nancy is a member of Wealth Counsel, a national collaborative of estate planning attorneys and financial professionals. She is also a member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan and is an active volunteer in the Grosse Pointe community.
Haley A. Monaghan-Punch
Associate Attorney
A former member of Hartmann & Nihem, Haley A. Monaghan-Punch joined Plunkett Cooney in January 2026 where she continues to build her practice primarily in the areas of trust and estate planning.
Haley’s background in elder law and estate administration also provides a valuable perspective on creating comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, and advanced healthcare directives.
Haley earned her law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. While in law school, Haley participated in the Elder Law Clinic and has extensive experience with guardianship, conservatorship and probate proceeds.
Haley’s dedication to client service and the Grosse Pointe community underscores her belief in the importance of integrity, service and personalized legal solutions.
